For work we had two interviews. Our first interview was in the morning with a geotechnical engineer from the Hong Kong Geological Survey, which is a department within the CEDD (Civil Engineering and Development Department). She was able to give us a lot of information about the development of the Hong Kong Global Geopark. She also was able to give us a lot of information about Tung Ping Chau. She lent us her professional opinion about the state of the island now compared to what it use to be like. She also gave us a copy of the textbook that she recently published about the geological history of Hong Kong.
Our second interview was with Dr. Lewis Cheung. He is a professor in the computer department at the City University of Hong Kong. He also is an accredited Geopark tour guide. Most importantly, he has his PhD in ecotourism! Can you say SCORE!?!?!? We arrived at the area pretty early and there was a mall right there. We decided to stop there for lunch. The mall happened to be Festival Walk. This mall was MASSIVE, reaching 6 stories. It was a very high-end mall with ritzy stores like Coach, Ralph Lauren, Armani, etc. As we were looking for the food court, we found out that this mall had an ice skating rink, a movie theater and food galore! Unfortunately, I totally forgot to take out my camera to photograph this master piece. After a delicious lunch at Mii2Cool of a hearty tomato soup with Japanese grilled salmon we stopped into H&M. Amy and I each bought grey dresses (different ones) to match Paul's grey suit jacket for our final presentation. Then, we headed over to City University for the interview. Dr. Cheung was AMAZING! He was able to give us so much information and expert opinions about the geopark. He also was very willing to set up secondary interviews with us and continue our conversation through email.
The above pictures are just from the campus of the City University of Hong Kong. I was blown away by the oasis that this campus created, right in the heart of the city.
We went home and worked for another hour or so in Amy's apartment. After that, we parted our separate ways for dinner. I got to Skype with John for a little while :)
After that, I met the ladies to go out and celebrate Belinda's birthday. First we went to the Avenue of Stars, which is Hong Kong's version of the Hollywood Boulevard. They had star tiles, some with hand prints and also statues. There was also an AMAZING view of the city sky line.

Me with the city skyline
The AMAZING view across the harbor with the buildings all lit up. We picked a PERFECT night to go down that. The building with the lighted dome on top is typically not visible due to pollution smog and the fog. The light looks pretty good reflected in the clouds.
Belinda trying to smoosh my head with a giant clap board!
Salisbury Road - Will it lead us back to WPI???
The ladies along the harbor <3
The pictures are out of order... this one should be last. We made it to the MTR with 1 minute left before the LAST train of the night!
Belinda and I in front of the Bruce Lee statue.
Me again in front of the skyline.
After the Avenue of Stars, we went to find dinner. We went to this little whole in the wall place. I had curried scallops with rice. It was SO good, but really spicy :-/ I couldn't eat all of it cause my mouth and lips were all tingly. After dinner, we went to an Australian Bar called Ned Kelley's. It was a fun little bar that was a great place to welcome in midnight with Belinda to celebrate her joining the 21 club! She had a cosmopolitan. I had a sex on the beach. It was a really good night :)
